How To Decorate Your Small Spaces

Your living space is your sanctuary. It is where you go to relax and be at your most comfortable. We believe what you surround yourself with affects your mood greatly and just because you have a small space doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to enjoy your home. It can be difficult to figure out how to organize and arrange your things when you live in a small space. Even a small apartment can look like a chic set from a magazine if you use the space correctly, so here are some tips to creating a beautiful and cozy living space.

Don’t Overdo the Patterns

Don’t go crazy with multiple different patterns. A solid colored sofa with mixed patterned pillows is a good example of balance. Too many different color blocks and patterns will make to room look too busy and overstuffed.

Use Your Walls

You can use your walls as storage room! If you have a small room, don’t buy a cabinet that’s just going to take up more room. You can instead get wall hanging bookcases and paneling which would save a lot of room. Also, instead of using lamps, you can find a variety of hanging light fixtures. They come in many different styles to suit any home decor.

Play with Shapes

Most rooms are square or rectangular but your furniture doesn’t have to be. Instead of a large rectangular coffee table, get a small round one with a glass surface. The glass will make it look like it’s not taking up much space and the shape will make it easier to for people to maneuver around room.

You can be Colorful or Simple

Either one would work. Don’t be afraid of having color in small rooms and don’t be afraid of white on white either. An all white or neutral color scheme does add light to the room and makes it look airy and open. But if you like color, it’s all about balance. Don’t have colors that clash, they don’t have to match either but they should be in harmony. For example, a gray sofa would look amazing with blue, green, yellow, or red pillows. Getting a neutral shade of furniture will allow you to experiment with colorful accessories.
